Chapter 5: Attitudes Based on High Effort

High-Efforts:

Nordstorm's goals were always "to serve our customers better, to always be relevant in their lives, and to form lifelong relationships".  Meaning they would go to any cost to make the lives of their customers easier. When buying clothing a lot of things come into play. Nordstrom has given customers the ability to choose how they wish to receive their items, rolling out various ways to pick up their items. Ever since the pandemic occurred Nordstorm made things more convenient for customers with contact-less pickup or however the customer feels suitable. Another thing that is a high effort is having their own Cafe where you can refuel and go back to do more shopping. This is a smart strategy since customers are eating at their restaurants so they stay around Nordstrom longer and not other retail stores.  

 





Attitudes:

Nordstrom's Attitudes are value-driven and social identity-based. They carry sustainable fashion, accounting for the evolving changes in consumer habits; lately eco-friendly and sustainability have become more important. This is a good effort on their end so people see that Nordstorm caters to all values and are always trying to serve their customers better. Nordstrom is also big on social identity. They carry everything from athletic wear o even now carrying  Korean-pop boyband BTS merchandise. By carrying numerous styles customers can have endless options to express themselves.

 


Source Credibility:

Nordstrom uses social events for Source Credibility. High-status people would buy things from Nordstrom and appear at events. Nordstorm also sponsors award shows such as the Tony awards.



Nordstorm would also have exclusivity merchandise such as BTS boy band wear mentioned above. They also launch exclusively for certain states only, further creating mass appeal for limited release items. 



A Nordstrom X Northface collaboration was also releaseda few years ago. T collaboration builds their credibility even higher and attracts more companies or influencers that would want to work with Nordstrom. This goes to show that Nordstorm is always looking for ways to increase their efforts
